Wallet hygiene
Most trenchers lose more to drainers and bad clicks than to bad trades. Keep your wallets boring.
Share on XA bad trade costs you one position. A drained wallet costs you everything in it.
Use more than one wallet
- Vault wallet. Holds savings. Never connects to new sites. Ideally a hardware wallet.
- Trading wallet. Lives in your terminal. Holds only this week's trading money.
- Burner wallet. For claiming airdrops, minting, or trying new sites. Assume it will be drained one day.
Rules that stop most drains
- Never share a seed phrase or private key. No real support person will ever ask for one.
- Read what you sign. If a site asks you to approve something you do not understand, stop.
- Bookmark your terminals. Fake copies of every popular site are advertised and posted in replies.
- Ignore DMs offering help, alpha or free tokens. They are almost always scams.
- Do not interact with random tokens that appear in your wallet. Some are bait that link to drainer sites.
If something goes wrong
- Move whatever is left to a fresh wallet immediately.
- Revoke any approvals you are not sure about.
- Do not trust anyone who DMs you offering to recover funds. Recovery scams target people who just lost money.
Your terminal holds keys
Terminal trading wallets are convenient because the site can sign for you. That also means a compromised account can trade for you. Use strong login security and keep the balance small.
